FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- The Fort Worth Police Officers Association (FWPOA) and the Fort Worth Committee for Public Safety announced their endorsement of Mattie Parker for Fort Worth Mayor.
Parker recently worked closely with FWPOA to defeat efforts to defund the Fort Worth Police Department.
The endorsement from one of North Texas’ leading law enforcement organizations comes one week after Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price announced her support – a clear sign of the growing momentum for the Parker campaign.
In announcing their support, Manny Ramirez, President of FWPOA said, “For nearly two decades, Mattie has been unwavering in her commitment to serve her community. Her leadership was critical to helping Fort Worth become the only city in Texas to resolve pension shortfalls, setting the city up for future financial success. And she has stood shoulder to shoulder with us in the battle to defeat radical attempts to ‘defund’ the Fort Worth Police Department.”
“As a proven competent, capable, and effective executive, Mattie Parker is the most qualified candidate to lead us into the future and keep Fort Worth safe. I am confident that with Mattie Parker’s vision and leadership, we can handle any challenge that comes our way,” he added.
Mattie Parker is the founding CEO of Fort Worth Cradle to Career and the Tarrant To & Through (T3) Partnership, which aims to ensure more students have the training needed to thrive in today’s workforce. Mattie has fifteen years of experience in national, state and local public affairs, including chief of staff for the Fort Worth Mayor and City Council. She serves on the board of directors for The Gatehouse’s Legacy Early Learning Academy, Read Fort Worth, Operation Progress – Fort Worth, and ACH Child and Family Services.
Mattie and her husband, David, have one daughter and two sons. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and has a law degree from Texas A&M University School of Law.
“As Fort Worth’s next mayor, I will remain a strong supporter of the men and women who proudly and bravely risk their lives to keep our neighborhoods, businesses and schools safe from violent crime,” said Parker. “This starts with fighting back against any efforts to defund our police force. Only with well-funded and well-trained law enforcement, can we ensure that every family in every part of our city is safe and prosperous.”
