Dallas County DA’s Office to Present Oral Arguments in Amber Guyger’s Appeal Case

Dallas, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office has served notice to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals of its intent to file oral arguments on April 27 on behalf of the State, related to the Amber Guyger case.

Guyger, a former Dallas police officer was sentenced to 10-years in prison the shooting death of her neighbor, Botham Jean who was 26-year old at the time. Guyger testified at her trial that she had mistakenly entered his apartment and shot him, fearing that he was an intruder inside her own unit.

Last August Guyger’s lawyers appealed of her murder conviction. They are seeking a lesser charge of criminally negligent homicide.

Assistant Dallas County District Attorney Douglas R. Gladden sent a letter to the 5th Circuit on Friday.
