Metroplex Has Almost 600,000 of the 2.2 Million COVID-19 Cases in Texas

(WBAP/KLIF) — The Lone Star State has close to 2.2 million coronavirus cases during the ongoing pandemic.  Texas health officials report over 8,400 additional cases, Thursday, along with 385 fatalities.  Dallas county attributed 45 deaths to COVID-19 on Thursday, while Denton county listed 11 deaths. in all, the Metroplex has lost over 6,100 residents.

The Metroplex nears 600,000 Coronavirus cases.  North Texas reported 3,300 new cases of COVID-19, Thursday, as Dallas and Tarrant counties each reported over a thousand newly infected residents. Denton county listed nearly 700 new positive tests and Collin county close to 600.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Dallas county is just under 239,000, while Tarrant county has more than 233,000 infections. Collin county is approaching 67,000 confirmed cases and Denton reports more than 59,000 infected residents.  Texas reports a total of nearly 40,000 deaths since march of last year. the mortality rate for North Texas sits at 1%, while statewide the rate is 1.8%.

Metroplex 598,407 positive tests (3,299 new), 6,145 deaths (56 new), 1% mortality rate

Texas 2,196,882 positive tests (8,435 new), 39,771 deaths (385 new), 1.8% mortality rate
