DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The City of Dallas and Methodist Medical Center in Oak Cliff are teaming up to vaccinate eligible North Texans.
Dallas is splitting its weekly shipment of 5,000 vaccine doses between the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center and Methodist, which began administering shots on Thursday. Methodist was allocated 3,000 doses. The convention center drive-up site was given 2,000 doses.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson toured the Methodist site on Thursday and said the partnership is a good fit.
“They have the expertise and they know what they are doing,” Mayor Johnson said.
Emergency Management coordinator Rocky Vaz stressed that all sites are pulling names from the Dallas county registration website.
“If they’re not on that list, there’s no way for us to schedule an appointment for them,” Vaz said.
According to Mayor Johnson, operations are running smoothly at both Kay Bailey and Methodist. Both sites expect to use all of the available doses of vaccine by the end of this week. Dallas expects to receive an additional 5,000 doses next week.
