Plano, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – The Plano Fire Department chief has gone public from his coronavirus hospital bed where he’s been battling the virus for nearly two weeks.
Chief Sam Greif told WFAA that he got his COVID shot on Monday, December 28th; little did he know, he was was already positive at the time.
“I went down hill really fast. By Wednesday morning I had tested positive. By Saturday I was on oxygen at home and by Saturday I was on the way to the hospital.”
Greif is being treated with a cocktail of medications and is getting better, but he says it’s been a rough few weeks.
He urges everyone to get the vaccine when their time comes.
“When offered the vaccine, I beg you to take the vaccine, don’t get caught up in the, ‘They rushed it to market, I don’t know what’s in it.’ It’s 95% effective. This is not a hoax. This is not about politics. This is real. It’s very dangerous. Please, please get the vaccine.”
On Wednesday, Dallas County reported 2,994 new cases and 21 deaths. Tarrant County reported 2,286 new cases and 15 deaths. Collin County reported 726 new cases and 11 deaths. Denton County reported 650 new cases.
