FTW Man Released From Prison After Serving Quadruple DWI Fatality Sentence

Parker County, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A Fort Worth man convicted in the quadruple intoxication manslaughter deaths of 4 Brock High School students in 1998 was released from prison last month, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

62-year old Ricky Carter had been sentenced to four 20-year sentences; he was released on November 7th after serving all four sentences concurrently.

Carter was drunk when he crashed his pickup head-on into a car carrying 15-year old Mandi McWhorter; Staci Lee and Whitney Welch, both 16; and, 17-year old Lacey Osina.

All of the girls were honor student, two were homecoming queens, three were on the girls basketball team and, collectively they made up half of the Brock HS cheerleading squad.

Carter tearfully told the families that he was sorry and deserved to die during his sentencing hearing in 2000.

A family member of one of the victims told the Star-Telegram that Carter is living in North Texas.
