
Irving, TX (WBAP/KLIF)- Sexual abuse claims against Irving-based Boy Scouts of America have reached over 81,000, and more people could come forward before Monday’s filing deadline.
To date, 81,500 people have filed as part of the BSA’s bankruptcy proceedings, which the organization is using to create a victim’s compensation fund.
The Scouts, in a statement Sunday, said that it is “devastated by the number of lives impacted by past abuse in scouting and that it’s moved by the bravery of those who came forward.”
Meantime, a lawyer for a victim’s advocacy group in Baltimore said, “It’s beyond all imagination that this many men have come forward.
