TARRANT COUNTY(WBAP/KLIF)- Republican Beth Van Duyne has been declared the winner in the Congressional race for the district 24 seat in the U.S House of Representatives.
Democratic challenger Candace Valenzuela has conceded her race against Beth Van Duyne Tuesday, a week after Van Duyne declared herself as the winner on Election night.
“We have every reason to believe we have won this race. Dallas County numbers are still out but we’ve done the math and at this time we don’t believe there’s enough votes to make up the margin. So we are going to go ahead and call it,” said Van Duyne.
However, Valenzuela tweeted, “This race is too close to call and thousands of votes are still being counted. The campaign is committed to a full and complete count of all ballots so every vote is counted and every voice is heard.”
After 100% of votes were counted in Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties, Valenzuela took to twitter to congratulate Van Duyne on her victory.

Van Duyne led 49% to 47% and was ahead by 4,629 votes.
“I don’t know what the future has to hold. I know that right now our country is very divided and this has been a very tight race. But once you get elected into these positions, you represent all of us,” said Van Duyne.
My pledge to the people of the 24th District is that no matter who you supported in this election, I will work tirelessly for you & your family to expand job opportunities, deliver sustainable growth for our region, & empower all of our citizens with a stronger, brighter future. pic.twitter.com/Ceef7b9zab
