Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – On a call with reporters Sunday, former Texas Govenor Rick Perry said that President Trump is focused on battleground states in the last days of the presidential campaign and insists Texas is not one of them.

Perry reportedly said, “He’s going to be in battleground states and Texas is not a battleground state, it’s that simple.” That, as new polling shows Trump trailing his democratic rival by 3 points in the lone star state.

A poll released Sunday by the Dallas Morning News and University of Texas/Tyler shows Biden leading 48%-45% among likely voters; that’s within the margin of error, but it’s also 5-points up from the last such poll last month.

Eying an opening, Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris will be campaigning in Texas on Friday.

Meantime, as of Saturday more than 7.1 Texans had already cast ballots, compared to 4.3 million early votes cast in Texas in 2016.
