FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Just over a year after Atatiana Jefferson was shot and killed by police in her Fort Worth home, The Fort Worth City Council is proposing to remember her legacy by renaming a street after her.
The major thoroughfare to be named after Jefferson would run from Interstate 35 West to East Maddox Avenue at U.S. Highway 287 near her home.
Council member Kelly Allen Gray proposed the change
28-year old Atatiana was playing video games in the early morning hours of October 12th when former Fort Worth police officer Aaron Dean, performing a welfare check, fired his gun through a window striking and killing Jefferson. Dean was charged with murder and is currently awaiting trial.
