Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Police officers made a daring rescue last night to rescue a woman who reportedly drove her car into a lake at William Blair Jr. Park.
Police say several officers formed a human chain to pull a man and woman from the car that was submerged. Officers then performed CPR on the 32-year old driver’s passenger until Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived; 37-year old Andre Chandler died from his injuries.
The woman, who was not identified is expected to be charged with intoxication manslaughter.
According to the police report: “On 10/13/2020 at approximately 9:15pm the arrestee, B/F/32, was driving a black 2015 Ford Taurus in William Blair Jr. Park with Andre Chandler, B/M/37 as the front right passenger. The arrestee drove through a wooden pole and wire entering the levy area, pulled to the left and drove through two more wooden poled and wire to get back into the park. The arrestee kept driving across the grass area towards the lake and eventually into the lake where the vehicle submerged. Both occupants were pulled out of the vehicle in the lake by Dallas Police Officers. Both occupants were transported to an area hospital. Chandler was pronounced deceased at the Hospital, the arrestee was treated, admitted, and will be charged with Intoxication Manslaughter. Next of kin was made. Because the arrestee was admitted to the hospital, her name will not be released until after she has been officially booked into jail.”
