Austin (WBAP/KLIF) –  Some Texas politicians are reacting to news that the President and First Lady have tested positive for COVID-19.  In a tweet, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said, “Lifting up prayers for @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS. May God’s healing powers touch them, strengthen them, and raise them up.”

Former Democratic Presidential hopeful Julian Castro, who served at HUD Secretary in the Obama administration wished the President well, but also used the twitter message to take a jab at the President.  He tweeted, “Mr. President—if these reports are confirmed, I wish you and the First Lady well. I hope this is a wake up call that this virus is not a hoax or something cured by injecting bleach. We need a plan, not the same divisive, dangerous rhetoric.”

Castro’s brother, Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro tweeted,  “If @realdonaldtrump tests positive for COVID-19, the White House needs to be honest with the American people. It’s not just a matter of the President’s personal health; it’s a matter of national security. This virus has claimed over 200k American lives in 6 months.”
