DALLAS – WBAP/KLIF – A group calling itself Southern Sector Rising is using an idea from parades to get its message against a mountain across to the public. A miniature mountain of old roofing shingles is sitting atop a trailer looking something like a parade float. It represents a mountain of old roofing shingles sitting in South Dallas for some time.
Blue Star Recycling was ordered to clean up it’s mess in spring of 2019, but the neighborhood group says not one shingle has been removed. They are blamed for area health problems and some illnesses. Community members gathered outside Dallas City hall earlier this month, demanding a cleanup in earnest begin in the month of September.
