DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Members of the military community, past and present, are invited to participate in the Dallas Virtual Career Fair for Veterans.
Thursday’s free event is being hosted by DAV and RecruitMilitary and is also open to military spouses and their dependents.
The fair will feature jobs from a myriad of industries including distribution, supply chain, logistics, e-commerce, data storage/broadband, pharmaceuticals and retail.
According to fair organizers, veteran unemployment is in step with the national unemployment claims amid the COVID-19 pandemic with numbers surging to 9% from just 3% at this time last year.
Chris Stevens, Senior Vice President at Recruit Military, said they’ve shifted gears to help get those out of work in the military community a job.
“At Bradley-Morris and RecruitMilitary, we care deeply about the military community we serve that includes job seekers, employers and out own team. Given the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control regarding COVID-19, to protect the safety of everyone involved, we shifted all upcoming in-person hiring events into our virtual veteran career fair platform,” he said.
Some of the employers who will be offering jobs include Milestone Electric, Trane & American Standard, Travel Centers of America, Dallas Police Department, Fort Worth Police Department, Pepsico, Raytheon Technologies, Spectrum, Texas Industries and Vistra Corp.
The event takes place Thursday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. CT online.
