GRAND PRAIRIE (WBAP/KLIF)- Officials say fallen power lines did not cause the fire at the Poly-America Factory in the Grand Prairie.
According to statements from Oncor and the Grand Prairie Fire Department, all of Oncor’s lines were fully intact, above ground and in normal operation when the massive fire broke out last week but the power lines failed after the fire grew out of control.
“We appreciate the diligent and thorough investigation by the Grand Prairie Fire Department and are grateful for the quick response and hard work of all first responders who helped extinguish the fire,” said Connie Piloto, Director of Communications at Oncor. “Safety is at the core of everything we do, and our engineer, construction and operations teams worked directly with local and federal officials throughout the investigative process. We are fully confident in the stability of our equipment.”
While the intense size and heat of the fire did impact the immediate surrounding transmission towers and distribution facilities, power was fully restored for all impacted customers by late Wednesday night and construction efforts are underway to restore or replace damaged equipment. This work is similar to the restoration process following natural disasters such as tornadoes, which Oncor personnel and resources are prepared for. Fire officials are still looking into the official cause of the fire.
