ICE “Endangering” Illegal Immigrants by Housing Them in 2.5 Star Hotels

(WBAP/KLIF) — ICE officials are being criticized for housing undocumented immigrant youth in two and a half star hotels.  According to U.S. Immigration and Customs, when agents take an illegal immigrant youth into custody, they hire an independent contractor to put them up in a $100 a night hotel for safety.

A court-appointed monitor for immigrant youth is now calling on the U.S. Government to stop detaining children in hotels before expelling them to their home countries.

Andrea Ordin says the practice could lead to emotional and physical harm. In a report, Ordin also says that there appeared to be a “lack of formal oversight” regarding the contractors hired by ICE agents.

ICE has been detaining children at Hampton Inn & Suites hotels in the Texas border cities of McAllen and El Paso, as well as Phoenix, Arizona.

According to ICE officials, they use a contractor to transport minors to the hotels, while ensuring they remain safe and secure.
