Dallas-Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – North Texas hospitals say they’re “desperate” for blood plasma donors from people who have recovered from COVID-19.
The recent spike in cases and hospitalizations has local medical facilities and blood centers accepting shipments of plasma from New York, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Blood plasma from recovered patients is one of the most successful ways to effectively treat the most critical COVID patients. The anti-bodies can help fight off the disease.
Among former patients who has since donated plasma is 35-year old Elizabeth Bolt of Dallas (pictured) who battled the illness for 24 days. She told WFAA-TV, “I hope other survivors out there will also consider donating to help save lives.”
