PAWHUSKA, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say the founder of a Texas megachurch has pleaded guilty to lewd and indecent acts with a child after he was accused of sexually abusing a young girl in the 1980s in Oklahoma while he was a traveling minister. Sixty-four-year-old Robert Preston Morris entered the pleas Thursday before a judge in Osage County, Oklahoma, as part of a plea agreement. Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced the pleas in a statement. The alleged abuse began in 1982 when the victim, referred to in the indictment as C.C., was 12 and Morris was a traveling evangelist staying in Hominy, Oklahoma, with her family, according to the attorney general’s office. Morris was the founder and senior pastor of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas.
