AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Democrat Colin Allred is once again running for the U.S. Senate. The former congressman from Dallas announced his candidacy on Tuesday. His entry into the race comes just months after Allred lost by nearly 9 percentage points to Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in 2024. Allred this time is seeking the seat of Republican Sen. John Cornyn, who’s facing a primary challenge from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Allred is a former NFL linebacker who tried to position himself as a moderate in last year’s race.
