TERRELL, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has confirmed the trucking company involved in the deadly crash in Terrell is Hope Trans LLC, based in Tacoma, Washington.

Federal records show Hope Trans operates 193 trucks and employs 195 drivers. Of the company’s 267 inspections, no critical violations were found — but a troubling pattern emerged: drivers were repeatedly cited for exceeding allowable hours.

In the Terrell crash, DPS says the driver fell asleep behind the wheel, resulting in the death of six people. Alexis Osmani Gonzalez-Companioni, 27, was arrested Saturday and charged with five counts of manslaughter and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, DPS confirmed.

The company’s listed address traces back to a co-working space. It is unclear whether Hope Trans maintains an actual office there.

Under federal regulations, trucking companies must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and list a principal place of business — a physical location where safety and driver records are kept and where federal inspectors can conduct onsite reviews.

Some questionable carriers use virtual addresses or P.O. boxes to avoid scrutiny, making it more difficult for regulators to track them.

The company’s registered owner is Aishat Magomedova. Repeated attempts by WFAA to reach her and the company by phone and email have gone unanswered.

A LinkedIn page for Magomedova listed her as a student at the University of London and owner of Fiorito Trucking. After a WFAA producer contacted a possible relative, the LinkedIn profile disappeared.

Magomedova is also linked to Fiorito Trucking, based in Franklin, Indiana. That company’s registered address is a church that doubles as an event venue. Fiorito Trucking is no longer authorized to operate as an interstate carrier.

A former owner of Hope Trans told WFAA he sold the company several years ago.

On Monday, the NTSB announced it has opened a safety investigation into the crash in coordination with DPS.

This is a developing story, and WFAA will continue to investigate the company’s safety history and ownership.
