WASHINGTON (WBAP/KLIF) – Senator John Cornyn is calling out the differences in how the University of Texas at Austin is handling pro-Palestinian demonstrators on campus compared to other universities.

Cornyn spoke on the Senate floor praising the quick action by Texas law enforcement.

“As hundreds of protestors attempted to occupy the campus, the university hasn’t wavered in its committment to provide a safe environment for all of its students,” Cornyn said during a Senate floor speech Tuesday.

Cornyn blasted other universities for failing to deal with protestors.

This week some demonstrators at Columbia University in New York took over an administration building.

Demonstrators at Northwest University near Chicago reached an agreement with administrators to continue protests through the spring semester.

“University of Texas took swift action to break up last week’s demonstration before it turned violent and it’s continued to do the same thing as it heats up this week,” Cornyn said.
