Dallas County Prosecutors Win Conviction in Fentanyl Case

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A first-of-its-kind verdict in Dallas County involving fentanyl.

It was the first trial involving a fentanyl case in Dallas county and prosecutors got a conviction.

33-year-old Richard Leal was found guilty of the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance greater than or equal to four grams.

He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

District Attorney John Creuzot called the sentencing a significant moment in the ongoing effort to combat the distribution of deadly opioids like fentanyl.

Leal was arrested early last year and was found with bags of cocaine and a bag with fentanyl pills among other drugs.
