Senator Cornyn Blasts President on Border & Debt Ceiling

(WBAP/KLIF) — A flood of illegal migrants are expected to over-run the southern border as Title 42 has ended.

Senator John Cornyn and other Republicans have been blaming the border crisis on the Biden Administration for not enforcing current immigration laws and policies. Cornyn is blasting the president as the border crisis is poised to get worse, and it seems the situation has to get to a critical point before the President is willing to negotiate.

The house passed a sweeping immigration bill to force migrants to seek asylum at designated ports of entry, would restrict traveling through another country to seek entry into the U.S., and impose a $50 asylum fee for adults. The bill has little chance to pass the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Meanwhile, the battle over the debt ceiling is in President Biden’s court, after the Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans have put the pressure on the president after passing the 2023 Limit, Save, Grow Act to raise the debt limit on April 26th. However, the President and Senate Democrats refuse to pass the bill. Cornyn says that President Biden’s refusal to negotiate is completely irresponsible and reckless. Both parties have agreed that the debt ceiling must be raised in order to avoid defaulting on the nation’s debt obligations.

June 1st is the projected deadline to raise the debt ceiling to avoid defaulting on the nation’s debt payment obligations. The president has canceled Friday’s debt ceiling meeting and postponed it until early next week.
