Wise County, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A Wise County grand jury has indicted 31-year old Tanner horner of capital murder and aggravated kidnapping in the death of 7-year old the Athena Strand. Athena’s disappearance last November 30th touched off a massive search. her body was found on December 2.
Horner confessed to accidentally hitting Athena with his fedex van after delivering a package to her home. She was not seriously hurt, but he panicked and put her into his van. he confessed to killing Athena after she told him that she was going to tell her father about the accident.
Athena’s mother, Maitlyn Gandy, thanked the grand jury, saying that hearing the facts surrounding Athena’s death “undoubtedly very difficult for them.”
Prosecutors could seek the death penalty.
