DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – U.S. Senator John Cornyn joined Dallas law enforcement, local non-profits, and trafficking victims on Wednesday for a discussion on how regional efforts to curb human trafficking in the Metroplex will be supported by Cornyn’s Abolish Human Trafficking Reauthorization Act, which was signed into law last week.
“The bill strengthens and reauthorizes key programs supporting survivors of human trafficking and provides resources to law enforcement officials working to combat modern-day slavery,” said Cornyn. “It permanently extends mandatory restitution for victims, provides necessary services for survivors, and promotes increased reporting and awareness to prevent trafficking.”
The roundtable took place at the Letot Residential Treatment Center, a shelter operated by the Dallas County Juvenile Department, which provides services to sexually exploited and trafficked teenagers. The discussion included representatives from area non-profits, law enforcement, and local officials who shared how they believe Cornyn’s legislation will bolster and improve local efforts to combat human trafficking.
