The center is located at 1201 E. Maddox Ave., about a block away from the home where the 28-year old was fatally shot by former Fort Worth police officer Aaron Dean on October 12, 2019.
Councilman Chris Nettles is expected to propose renaming the building to the ‘Atatiana Carr Jefferson Community Center.’

Ex-officer Dean had responded to an opn-door call when he fired from outside the home into a window where Jefferson who was holding a gun. Neither Dean nor his partner had announced themselves. He was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 11 years, 10 months and 12 days in prison.
