
UPDATE: Judge George Gallagher Dismissed Contempt of Court Charges Wednesday against Ft. Worth Mayor Mattie Parker and Councilman Chris Nettles after the 2 apologized for releasing statements following the conviction of former Ft. Worth police officer Aaron Dean. Gallagher said case was a tragedy and “it is time for us to move on.”
FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker and Councilman Chris Nettles are scheduled to appear in a Tarrant County courtroom on Wednesday.
The pair face accusations of contempt of court for allegedly defying a gag order in during the Aaron Dean murder trial.
Judge George Gallagher held the pre-trial order issued in 2019 on witnesses who testified during the trial last month.
Dean was found guilty of manslaughter in the shooting death of Atatiana Jefferson in 2019.
Parker and Nettles released statements to the media after the verdict but before the sentencing phase of trial began. If they’re found in violation, the two could face a fine or jail time.
Legal experts not connected to the case said it’s unlikely the two will face jail time.
