New regulations approved by Dallas City Council will be in place when the popular scooters make a comeback.
Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – After being temporarily banned in late 2020 due to safety concerns, electric scooters could make a return to Dallas streets in February.
During the pause a committee comprised of residents, business owners and police was formed by City Councilman Omar Narvaez to come up with recommendations that would allow scooters to make a comeback.
New recommendations approved by city council a few months ago puts limits on maximum speeds in high-volume areas; cuts down on night-time usage; calls for scooter companies to make them available in under-served neighborhoods, and to be more accountable for their vehicles.
The city is putting the final touches on the permit process.
