Prosecutors Rest in Aaron Dean Trial

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Prosecutors rested their case in the trial for former Fort Worth Police Officer Aaron Dean on Wednesday inside a Tarrant County courtroom.

Dean is accused of shooting Atatiana Jefferson to death inside her family’s home in 2019.

Day 3 of testimony brought forensic analysis from investigators and the medical examiner. The afternoon ended with Jefferson’s sister, Ashley Carr, on the stand. She testified to her sister’s character.

“She moved back home after college,” Carr said. “Then she left to spread her wings, and when mom got sick she came back home.”

The state rested its case after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

The defense will begin calling witnesses when the trial resumes on Monday.
