WASHINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A federal judge sentenced former Trump advisor Steve Bannon to four months in prison for defying a subpoena from the House committee investigating the January 6th capitol riot.
He was convicted on two counts: for refusing to sit for a deposition and for refusing to provide documents.
Judge Carl Nichols allowed Bannon to remain free while filing an appeal before his mid-November surrender date. He must also pay a $6,500 fine.
Prosecutors had asked for the maximum sentence of six months in prison and a $200,000 fine.
Bannon spoke to reporters after the sentencing.
“Today was my judgement day by the judge and he stated for the appeal and we’ll have a very vigorous appeal process. But as that sign says right there…on November 8 there going to have judgement on the illegitimate Biden regime and Nancy Pelosi and the entire committee,” he said.
His comments were met with jeers from a crowd outside the courthouse.
Bannon’s attorneys had argued for probation.
