(WBAP/KLIF) — MedStar was targeted by a cyber attack at 6:30 a.m., Thursday morning, forcing the mobile healthcare provider to operate on back-up systems.

MedStar’s Matt Zavadsky says after detecting the attack, they isolated connected systems to assure the breach was quarantined. The response also included manually dispatching calls over a public safety radio until they could determine that computer systems were secure. At this point, technicians do not have any evidence pointing to a breach of patient or 9-1-1 records.
Zavadsky says they are unsure where the attack originated or who is responsible.
