DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Murder and DWI charges have been filed in connection to the death of 8-year-old Kaden Rainwater of Dallas, who was hit by an alleged drunk driver while riding a scooter earlier this week.
Dallas Police said 31-year-old Miguel Martinez hit Rainwater at the Bella Vista Apartments off Dilido Road near I-30 and Buckner Boulevard on Monday just after 7 p.m.
Investigators said Martinez remained on the scene after the crash and had a child with him inside of his car. Court records show he has had three previous DWI convictions on his record.
Martinez is being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $600,000 bond.
Rainwater was a third grader at S.S. Conner Elementary School and the school had counselors on hand for grieving students this week.
A memorial service for Rainwater will be held this weekend and there’s a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for funeral expenses.
