UVALDE (WBAP/KLIF) – The Uvalde CISD has suspended the entire police department one day after firing an officer who was hired while under investigation for actions related to the Uvalde school shooting in May.

In a statement, the district says they will continue to engage with the Texas Police Chiefs Association which is conducting a Management and Organizational Review.

Governor Greg Abbott criticized the district for hiring the former DPS officer who was under investigation.

19 students and two teachers were killed in the massacre and the head of DPS described the police response as an abject failure.
