DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Residents across the Metroplex will be able to sign a condolence book for the late Queen Elizabeth II at Dallas City Hall on Friday, September 16.

The book was provided by His Majesty’s Consul General in Houston Richard Hyde.

The Queen died last week at the age of 76, after serving 70 years on the United Kingdom throne. She’s the longest reining monarch in British history.

In 1991, the Royal made a stop in Dallas during a United State’s tour and became the first Monarch to set foot in the city.

Residents can sign the book in the City Hall lobby from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson will sign the book at 10 a.m.

“I am honored that Dallas was one of the city’s selected to express its condolences to the United Kingdom on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” said Mayor Johnson. “The Queen was a consequential and remarkable world leader and a friend to our city. I invite Dallas residents to come to Dallas City Hall to participate in this special occasion.”

The Queen is currently lying in state at Westminster Abbey and her funeral is scheduled for Monday, September 19.
