SACHSE (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The Sachse High School community is mourning the loss of one of its star athletes who went on to play college football at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas.

OBU announced the death of 21-year-old defensive lineman Clark Yarbrough on Sunday via Twitter.

Before starting college in Arkansas in 2019, Yarbrough played football at Sachse High School. Sachse is about 20 miles northeast of Dallas.

His family said he was majoring in sports management and had plans to earn a master’s degree.

His mother, Mattie Yarbrough, told our media partner WFAA TV, she had just traveled to Oklahoma to watch her son play in a Ouachita victory last Thursday, September 1, against Oklahoma Baptist.

Sachse HS Principal Shae Creel expressed the loss on social media.

“In this business, you see a lot of things. You share the wins, the losses, the laughs, the cries and so on. We lost a good one. Rest easy big man!” he said.
