FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A veteran Fort Worth Police officer has been arrested on burglary charges.
According to the department, Detective Bryan Lafaurie forced his way into a house with a gun last Friday, July 8, to confront some teens he suspected of stealing his property.
Lafaurie was off-duty at the time. After the incident, he was placed on restricted duty and stripped of his police powers amid ongoing criminal and administrative investigations.
The department obtained an arrest warrant and Lafaurie turned himself in this week. The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office is now handling the case.
In a written statement, Lafaurie’s attorneys said they are conducting their own investigation and asked the public not to rush to judgement.
