State Fair Deep Fried Food Contest Underway

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The State Fair of Texas has begun the process of working through the candidates for the 2022 Big Tex fried food awards. 36 semi-finalists were announced Wednesday. they include:

     Deep fried Buc-ee’s made with Buc-ee's beaver nuggets. 

     Deep fried lasagna, 

     Turkey leg taquito, 

     Deep fried honey 

     Deep-fried praline cheesecake eggroll.  

     And a concoction called 'Fat Elvis,' which its creator says is peanut butter and strawberry jelly mixed together on a warm biscuit topped with marshmallow fluff, hot bacon, and caramelized fried plantains.

The winners will be declared a few weeks before the state fair begins on September 30.
