Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The wife of Brandon Ned, the man who opened fire inside a summer camp at the Duncanville Fieldhouse where hundreds of children were present Monday, says her husband who was bipolar “was not trying to hurt anyone.”

Lequitha Ned told WFAA-TV that her husband was not supposed to have a gun and that she is the owner of the gun that he had when he entered the fieldhouse Monday morning. She said that he went inside because a friend who was dropping off their children “was taking too long.”

Ned fired several shots inside the fieldhouse and made threats before being encountered by a Duncanville police officer who shot him.

Ned’s family said they believe he is being painted as a “terrorist” amid heightened sensitivity following school massacre in Uvalde.
