UVALDE (WBAP/KLIF) – Wednesday’s briefing by state leaders on the Uvalde elementary school massacre brought a brief interruption.
Governor Abbott was passing the microphone to Lt. Governor Dan Patrick when his Democratic opponent in the race to unseat him stood up to ask about promised changes by the Governor after the 2018 Santa Fe High School shooting. The interruption by Beto O’Rourke was wasn’t received well by local officials.
“I can’t believe you would come to a deal like this to make a political issue,” a local official shouted.
Abbott said now isn’t the time to politicize tragedy, but O’Rourke contends that Texans are fed up.
