Amarillo, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A Texas Panhandle High School senior scored himself a seat on the Claude ISD School Board after launching a write-in campaign for the May 7 election.

18-year old Carsen Roberts beat out four other candidates with a total of 158 votes.

Roberts said that he “knocked on every door in the town of Claude — as well as two surrounding communities that vote and talked to people,” according to WFAA.

He says that among his goals as a laude Independent School District board trustee are to “better the infrastructure, including repairing pipes, urinals and toilets across the district’s campuses; and to improve on-campus safety across the district as well.

Roberts is currently his class president at Claude High School. He has also worked on political campaigns for Republicans including US Rep. Ronny Jackson.
