Progress Reported Against Fort Hood Wildfire

Fort Hood (WBAP/KLIF) – A huge wildfire that started on a Foot Hood firing range last week has charred 33,000 acres, and is still going strong. Fort Hood officials estimate they have the blaze about 55% contained. They say they were making excellent progress against it until Sunday afternoon when the winds kicked up, and sent the flames roaring out of control. Since then the wildfire has charred about 15% of Fort Hood’s total area. A second fire burning just outside Fort Hood’s northern boundaries has consumed several hundred acres, and is also estimated to be 55% contained.
Firefighters in Medina County west of San Antonio, say the wildfire that has been burning there for several days is now 95% contained. They expect to have it fully contained by the end of the day, Tuesday.
