ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF)-For the first time in the district’s history, the Arlington ISD announced the launch of Universal pre-K for all four-year-olds starting in the fall. That means that every parent of a four-year-old learner can enroll their child in full-day pre-K at no charge. Plus, the district launched the first-ever pre-K program with an innovative STEM curriculum, “Full STEM Ahead!”, designed to inspire the imaginations of the district’s littlest learners.

“The Arlington ISD provides our 21st-century learners exceptional educational opportunities throughout their experience in our schools. This journey for our youngest learners begins with pre-K,” Arlington ISD Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos said. “We know that by starting STEM early through fun and interactive experimentation, our pre-K students will be inspired to learn and discover through their lifetime.”

“We already have an innovative, fun, play-based curriculum that our youngest students love,” said Dr. Jackeline Orsini, Arlington ISD early childhood learning director. “With STEM, we’ll take it to an even higher level. STEM will help bring the learning to life with lots of hands-on activities and real-world connections that will spark our kids’ curiosity and interest in learning.”

Registration for Arlington ISD’s new pre-K program for four-year-olds opens April 1. The Arlington ISD is an open district which means that students can attend Arlington schools even if they are zoned to another district, providing space is available.
