CELESTE – (WBAP/KLIF) Hunt County officials say a woman, two dogs and a cat died from what appears to have been carbon monoxide poisoning. Officials say they arrived to a call for help to find a woman dead inside a garage, and her pets inside the house.
Officials say they found a nearby gas powered generator that had run out of fuel.
Hunt County Sheriff Terry Jones reminds Texans never to use generators or other fuel powered equipment to work inside a structure; even a carport or somewhat enclosed space. Officials warn equipment like this should be kept at a minimum 20 feet away from the outside of a structure one is trying to keep warm.
