(WBAP/KLIF) — One Forth Worth hospital is feeling the stress of the latest pandemic surge. A new spike of COVID-19 has DFW hospitals concerned about the number of patients and a potential shortage of staff.

Nurse Charlsea Prichard at Texas Health Harris Hospital says following vaccine availability and a decline in cases this summer, they believed they had the upper hand. However, doctors and hospital staff are being extra cautious with protective gear to remain healthy to fight the battle. Their staffing needs are sufficient, now, but they’re worried the Omicron variant could deplete their workforce.
According to WFAA, Prichard says being vaccinated has made a huge difference among hospitalized patients, as most are unvaccinated.
