Sunday Will Be Best Opportunity To See Comet Leonard

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Astronomers say the best chance north Texas residents will have to see Comet Leonard will be this weekend. The comet will be closest to Earth on December 12. Leonard is already visible, but after Sunday it will be dimming, and probably not visible to the naked eye by the end of the month. The planetarium director at the University of Texas at Arlington says Comet Leonard is most visible around 4:00 AM when sky conditions are better, and light pollution is generally as low as it’s going to get.
