FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Republican State Representative Matt Krause announced on Tuesday that he will no longer run for Attorney General of Texas, but instead will be filing to run for the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s open seat.

“When CDA Sharen Wilson made her unexpected announcement that she would not seek another term, I was humbled by the number of individuals here in Tarrant County who asked me to consider running for the position,” said Rep. Krause. “After much prayer and consideration, our family is excited about the opportunity to serve our home county as the next Criminal District Attorney and carry on the great work and legacy of CDA Wilson. I am committed to protecting the rights and liberties of Texans and will remain a faithful, conservative fighter as District Attorney for the people of Tarrant County.”

Krause’s decision to run for Tarrant County D.A. came after Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert announced he was entering the race for Texas Attorney General.

“Knowing that he was going to get into the race and run in that conservative lane that we were helped us solidify that this is the right move for us,” said Rep. Krause. “We will help Congressman Gohmert in his efforts to get the nomination in the Republican primary.”

Krause said he plans to officially file for Criminal District Attorney once the Tarrant County Republican Party Headquarters reopens after the Thanksgiving holiday.
