Mexico Sends Youth to U.S. for Vaccine

(WBAP/KLIF) — A new initiative by a United States border city is helping children in Mexico to receive COVID-19 vaccines. A group in San Diego is running the program through December.

Mexico has joined the program, in part, because it did not have enough vaccine supply to cover the younger population. Hundreds of Mexican children are being bused across the border to get coronavirus shots under a pilot program. This also comes as Mexico prepares to vaccinate the younger population.

Mexico has lagged behind other nations in immunizing minors. The kids between 12 and 17 years old are being taken to the Mexican consulate in San Diego to get their shots. The initiative will immunize up to 450 youth.
