Human Trafficking Suit Spreads To Hindu Temples In Five States

Undated (WBAP/KLIF) – A human trafficking lawsuit originally filed in New Jersey has expanded to four other states including Texas. The plaintiffs accuse a Hindu organization of human trafficking for luring them from India to build temples in Texas, New Jersey, California, Illinois, and Georgia. The workers claim they were illegally exploited, and paid as little as $1.20 a day. The workers say they came from marginalized communities in India, and were coerced into signing unfair employment agreements. They say they were all paid far less than minimum wage.
