Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – DFW Airport Police ON Wednesday released an incident report on the alleged ‘mask flicking‘ incident involving Texas gubernatorial candidate Allen West.
The department says that the retired Lt. Colonel was investigated on an allegation of simple assault but was not arrested.
According to police, a man in the airport’s Terminal B told the responding officer that he spotted West – who he recognized as a public figure – without a mask and said, “Put on a mask idiot.”
West reportedly approached the man and ask the him to repeat himself. After doing so, the man says West hit him on the face and pulled his mask down.
The man also told police that he West was grabbing his mask, he pushed him back to get West away from him. He also told police that as West walked away, West called the him a “stupid white man,” according to the report.
Police say that West had left the airport by the time the responding officer arrived, but he spoke to police afterward.
West confirmed much of the story to police, but omitted the claim that he hit the man in the face; West also claims that the man put up his fists and wanted to fight, and that he walked away immediately.
West told police that he did not appreciate being called an idiot.
