A New Sculpture At The Entrance To Love Field Airport

[WBAP/KLIF News] Dallas – If you’ve recently driven by the entrance to Dallas Love Field at Cedar Springs and West Mockingbird, you may have noticed a new piece of art that welcomes travelers at the airport entrance. It’s called the “Love Bird” and was created by Portland artist Ed Carpenter. Love Field Communications Manager Chris Perry says Carpenter considers the sculpture a “guardian of Love Field” and adds a heroic and poetic presence to the entrance.

Perry says the Love Bird is part of the public art program at the airport and is in partnership with the city of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture.

The project is designed to revitalize the entrance to Love Field making it more friendly to pedestrians and those riding bicycles, while adding artistic qualities. There have been lane closures during the project since last May however Perry says those will be wrapped up in the next couple of weeks to have the entrance ready for the busy holiday travel season.
